These models were produced from end of the 1990’s to early 2000’s. They normally have accumulated large amounts of kilometers on their odometer, subsequently the maintenance needs to be done with thoroughness and special care.

 

Major inspection details:

  • Motul performance oil and oil filter change, transmission and final drive oils changed.
  • Setting of valve clearances. Air filter inspect, drain air filter box and clean airbox. Alternator belt inspection and setting of tension.
  • Brake fluid systems flush and bleed after cleaning reservoirs, also including clutch hydraulic system.
  • Washing of all individual parts and motorcycle.
  • Diagnostic computer work including setting of the throttle potentiometer sensor.
  • Basic setting of throttle controllers synchronization.

 

Service price including rubber seals on engine covers R4143.00 ( Incl VAT )

 

Additional repairs commonly needed on this model: ** Including labour

  • Fuel tank rubber hoses refurbishment and replacement of fuel filter R2000.00
  • Rubber brake hoses recondition or update to kinetic braided hosing R2580 to R3830.

Annual inspection and service:

Motul 7100 performance engine oils and oil filter change. Genuine BMW oil filter option available for low mileage units.

Diagnostic computer work and setting of service intervals. Price R3156.00

 

Major / Sport service information:

Motul 7100 performance engine oil change and oil filter new. Inspection and replacement of air filter and spark plugs, measure valve clearances.

Clutch hydraulic system flush with Genuine Magura oil.

Thorough inspection and setting of bolts and screws, diagnostic computer testing and setting.

Price including all parts and labor is R 4586.00 ( with VAT )

 

Additional repairs associated with these models:

  • Wheel electronic pressure sensor price R1200 incl fitment and programming.

Major service:

Motul performance enhanced engine oil and filter.

Changing all fluids and bleeding of clutch and brake systems.

Inspection and replacement of spark plugs and air filter, setting valve clearances and quote on the alternator rubber belt if necessary.

Check through and diagnostic computer testing.

Annual / Minor service and check through:

Motul engine oil change, inspection of air filter and replacement of oil filter and engine drain plug sealing washer.

Measure valve clearances and bleeding brake hydraulic systems.

Diagnostic computer testing and cleaning of motorcycle and parts.

Additional repairs to consider:

  • ABS complete flush and bleed R830.
  • Rubber buffer on engine protection R334. May incur extra labor for removal.
  • Front steering ball joint rubber boot replacement with Genuine part. Including labor R1000.
  • Drive shaft inspection and grease, rear suspension fixing points inspection and replacement of front rubber gaiter between paralever and transmission. Genuine BMW parts included and labour: R2120 VAT included.
  • Wheel pressure sensor electronic R1200.00 including fitment and programming.

Minor and time based servicing with no high amount of mileages between services.

Motul performance oil recharge and BMW Genuine oil filter and seal.

** we regrettably do not use any generic oil filters on these models because of the physical small size of the cartridge. Full check through not excluding battery and connections, change brake fluids. Testing all systems and setting the drive chain, diagnostic computer work and washing of the entire motorcycle.

Motorrad sport services also called a Major for the long distance rider and more than often off-roader:

Motul performance engine oil and Genuine BMW oil filter service kit incl seals.

All major parts removed and washed incl all fairing panels and protection items, front drive pinion cover etc. Replacement of air filter after visual inspection. Spark plugs replacement every 30 thousand kilometers on Twin Spark models using Genuine BMW spark plugs.

All formal inspections and adjustments where needed and possible to.Diagnosis and service checks, complete clean of motorcycle completed.

Price including VAT R4028,00.

 

Occasional repairs normally associated with this model:

  • Front suspension service excl dust/pre seals @ R250 incl Motul oil R2400.
  • Steering bearings incl dust washer R2545.
  • Waterpump kit replacement with Genuine BMW parts and new engine gasket R2878.
  • Dakar / Sertao rear shock Nitrogen gas refill R650.

These models make use of full synthetic engine oils, our choice of oil is naturally the 7100 range of oil from Motul. It is proven to give performance improvements through many aspects of protection and engine control.

We also offer a Genuine BMW oil filter for very young models where the warranty still needs to be secured.

Both our Annual type service and the major/ off-road service includes a thorough check through and diagnostic computer tests, engine oil change and brake fluids flush and bleed. Also cleaning of all individually removed parts and washing of the motorcycle. Additionally the major service also includes an air filter,  coolant change and bleed and new spark plugs to keep the engine firing at optimum efficiency.

For pricing you can expect to budget for around R2897 for the annual maintenance and R4618 towards the major, sporty and spirited orientated riding service.

Major / sport service includes:

Annual service with full synthetic Motul engine oil is R3034 to R3147 including all parts and labour.

This includes changing the oil filter and brake fluids, inspection of clutch fluid and coolant levels.

The major service will include inspection and replacement if necessary of the air filter/s and spark plugs. Complete flush and bleed of the cooling system and hydraulic clutch and brake systems.

Final drive oil change with new sealing washer and o-ring rubber seal.

Complete diagnostic read and set, and also testing the torque of all critical bolts on the frame and suspensions, also brake systems. Washing of all the parts removed with the inspection and also the complete motorcycle cleaning procedure.

Major service including parts and labor comes to roughly R6399 for GT and R7060 for the S models. K1600 models are R7568 including all parts and labour.
